The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) is an independent federal agency in the United States that regulates and supervises the government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs) - Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The FHFA is responsible for ensuring that these entities operate in a safe and sound manner and that they fulfill their mission of providing liquidity, stability, and affordability to the U.S. housing market.
