This dataset includes monthly producer price index industry data published by BLS. Producer Price Index for an industry is a measure of changes in prices received for the industry's output sold outside the industry (that is, its net output). The PPI publishes approximately 500 industry price indexes in combination with over 3,700 specific product line and product category sub-indexes, as well as, roughly 500 indexes for groupings of industries . Currently, some PPIs have an index base set at 1982 = 100, while the remainder have an index base that corresponds with the month prior to the month that the index was introduced.
