Alphacast High Frequency CPI: Inflation was 1.07% WoW
After easing for four consecutive weeks, weekly inflation picked up sharply. Consumer prices rose 1.07% WoW, up from the previous week’s revised 0.37%. On a monthly basis, inflation was unchanged at 2.8% MoM, while the annual rate remained steady at 31% YoY.
Across components, core, seasonal, and regulated prices all picked up on the week, contributing to the rebound in headline inflation. Core inflation came in at 0.77% WoW, up from the revised 0.38% WoW the previous week, while the monthly pace decelerated to 3% MoM. Seasonal items rose 0.79% WoW (vs. a revised 0.24% previously), with a monthly increase of 1.7% MoM. Meanwhile, regulated prices increased 1.78% WoW, accelerating from a revised 0.40% the week before and posting a monthly pace of 3% MoM.
