Alphacast High Frequency CPI: Inflation was 0.91% WoW
Weekly inflation held steady in the first week of April. Consumer prices rose 0.91% WoW, in line with the previous week’s revised reading. On a running basis, inflation was tracking at 3.5% MoM, while the annual rate stood at 32.8% YoY.
Across components, core and seasonal inflation picked up on the week, while regulated prices eased somewhat. Core inflation came in at 0.52% WoW, up from the previous week’s revised 0.47%, while the monthly pace held at 2.5% MoM. Seasonal items rose 0.6% WoW, up from the previous week’s revised 0.48%, with the monthly pace accelerating slightly to 2.4% MoM from 2.3%. Meanwhile, regulated prices increased 1.75% WoW, easing from the previous week’s revised 1.99%, although the monthly pace picked up to 5.9% MoM from 5.5%.
